Dodgy Bros Dilemma 2014
We had lots of good names for this wine, it ended up being quite a dilemma deciding which one to use!
A blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Sommerville vineyard on Malpas Road, and 12% Merlot from the Lennon vineyard on Bayliss Road.
The Cabernet Sauvignon was matured in brand new French oak barriques, while the Cabernet Franc and Merlot we aged in old French oak. Like the wines of the Right Bank of Bordeaux, the Cabernet Franc drives the aroma and flavour profile, while the Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and backbone. The Merlot finishes off the blend by adding some flesh and juiciness to the front palate.
A wine that shows how well McLaren Vale can do these varieties, the unsung heroes of the Vale.
