Dodgy Bros Pinot Gris 2015
90 points – Philip White, InDaily
92 points – James Halliday Wine Companion
All nashi pear, skinsy feels, bruised apple hints; honeysuckle and a little stone fruit panna cotta.
It’s lavishly textured – seeing some 30% of solids included to build texture without sugar – layered, spiced. Skin contact – four hours – sufficient to lend a little blush and aid that textural feel. Generous length.
Picked on February 6th, 2015. Crushed into the press and left on skins for 4 hours. Pressed off to a stainless steel tank, and fermented cool with 30% solids included. Racked immediately post ferment to 3 year old french oak hogsheads. Kept cold, with no sulphur and weekly lees stirring to help build texture and mouthfeel. 12.8% alc./vol.
A Pinot Gris that is all about texture and mouthfeel, while still maintaining freshness and vibrancy.
