Santuario Malbec Shiraz 2014
A novel blend of spicy Malbec and Shiraz. The nose is full of the spicy aromas of Shiraz, the beautiful ripe fruit from the Malbec combines with the spicy character of Shiraz on the palate creating a soft easy drinking red with sweet cherry and autumn berry fruits and a rounded structure. An enjoyable and quaffable wine.
In Argentina the Malbec grape is as Messi and Maradona! Santuario pays tribute to this Argentinean obsession and has re-packaged, re-blended and re-launched this wine this year to truly over deliver on every front. Classic Malbec at an affordable price.
Grapes hail from selected sites in Santa Rosa and Maipu vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. The grapes are hand picked grapes during the last two weeks of March.
The hand picked grapes arrive at the winery towards the end of March. They are destemmed and a part of the production is crushed with the majority remaining as whole berries. There is a pre-fermentation cold maceration followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 26C and a classic maceration for 15 days with daily remontage and delestage. There is no malolactic fermentation.
A perfect partner for light pasta dishes with a tomato sauce.
Blend: Malbec 70%, Shiraz 30%
