Wild Duck Creek Estate Springflat Shiraz 2013
The Springflat Shiraz is a Wild Duck Creek Estate flagship, representing exceptional value – earning a place on the Langton’s classification in 2009 and 2014.
Now a combination of five vineyards, narrowing the Springflat Shiraz’ focus to low yielding intensely flavoured Heathcote fruit. Typical black/dark red in colour. Blackberry, graphite and spicy oak aromas fill the nose. In the mouth, the pure and alluring fruit is captivating. Laden with blood plums and blueberries on top of a delicate crushed leaf note.
Prior to deciding which wines will ultimately be made each vintage, Duck and Liam analyze their barrels so as to make the very best Springflat Shiraz possible.
The uniqueness of this wine results from parcels of fruit being sourced from up to eight sites across the Heathcote region, stretching from Mia Mia to Colbinnabin.
These vineyards are living in various soil types ranging from the rich ‘cambrian’ volcanic soils of the north, to the dense, acidic, granite and quartz-laden clays of the south. This allows the Springflat Shiraz to express the richness and depth which the Heathcote region is famous.
Matured in 45% new French and American oak hogsheads for 22 months.
Drink now until 2031.
